Organic soil is a crucial component of the zero-emission strategy for conventional CO2 storage and offers the potential for greening that extends beyond cities to encompass the entire country.

Soil - a living, ecological habitat

Soil, as we know it beneath our feet, is far more than just a mixture of earth and stones. It is a highly complex, ecological habitat – the basis for all life on land. Its composition is balanced and finely tuned: Around 45 % consists of mineral components such as sand, silt and clay. Added to this are 20 % air, 20 % water and around 15 % organic materials such as dead plant remains, microorganisms and humus. This mixture creates the conditions for an amazingly diverse microcosm.

A single teaspoon of healthy soil contains up to 340 million microorganisms – a figure that illustrates the enormous biological activity of the soil. Bacteria, fungi, worms, insects, amoebae and nematodes work tirelessly to break down organic matter, release nutrients and keep soil life in balance. This enormous biodiversity makes soil one of the most species-rich habitats of all.

What makes soil so special is its vitality. Healthy soil is aerated, stores water and carbon dioxide and provides plants with exactly the nutrients they need. It helps to make them more resistant to drought, disease and pests – a natural protective mechanism that works without chemical intervention. Through the interaction of its inhabitants, the soil promotes natural nutrient cycles, humus formation and thus strong, sustainable plant growth.

Healthy soils are the basis for agricultural productivity, climate-resilient ecosystems and global food security. Active soil life is the key: it is not the fertilizers or pesticides used that guarantee healthy plants in the long term, but the life in the soil itself. Instead of controlling or exploiting soils, we should work with them – in harmony with the natural processes that have proven themselves over millions of years.

Soil is therefore not a dead raw material, but a living system – sensitive, versatile and vital for survival. Understanding and protecting it means securing our own future.

Projekt, neu gedacht!

Als Projekt betrachten wir ein gesellschaftlichen Prozess, der zum Erreichen einer definierten Ziels beiträgt.

So erlaubt dieser Prozess unserer Gesellschaft ein strukturierten Entwicklung und eine wachsende Lebensstandard. Entsteht ein gesellschaftlicher Bedarf aufgrund neuer Techniken, Versorgungsleistungen, oder bestehenden oder absehbaren Veränderungen, können Projekte diese Lücke füllen. Entscheidend ist das Ziel was definiert und erreicht werden soll. So ist eine direkte Lösung nicht immer die nachhaltigste und effiziente Herangehensweise. Für unseren gesellschaftlichen Bedarf ist eine direkte Strategie ausreichend und erfüllt den Zweck. Doch geben diese Prozesse keine Lösung für unser Klima oder der Umwelt.

Unsere Welt lebt im Wandel und der Gesellschaft wird bewusst, dass unser Eingriff in die Umwelt, eine Gefahr für das gesamte Leben darstellt. Effizienz und Nachhaltigkeit werden zu wichtige Größen, die entscheidend für die Bewahrung unser Umwelt sind.

Neue Strategie und Herangehensweisen müssen auf naturbezogene Prozesse angepasst und mit unseren anthropogenen Prozessen verknüpft werden. Damit ist eine direkte Unterstützung für die Natur und das Klima gesichert. Unsere Umwelt profitiert mit diesem Schritt, weil das Verhältnis zwischen Gesellschaft und Natur ausgeglichen wird.

COP 28 und TERRA UAE

Die kommende COP 28 Konferenz wird eine der wichtigsten internationalen Veranstaltungen sein, die sich mit der Bekämpfung des Klimawandels und der Förderung von Umweltschutz und Nachhaltigkeit beschäftigt. Die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate haben die Ehre, als Gastgeber dieser Veranstaltung zu fungieren und haben sich in den letzten Jahren in diesem Bereich als Vorreiter etabliert. Ein wichtiger Beitrag dazu könnte das umfassende Terra UAE-Projekt, das sich vollständig in die Ziele und Vorhaben der COP 28 Konferenz einfügt. …
